Learning Attic Greek: Some More Organic or Inductive Approaches

Carl Ruck. Ancient Greek: A New Approach

  • Note 1: The second edition of this book was revised so heavily that it is an entirely different book than the first edition. The second edition (green cover) is on the one hand better for self-instruction, because everything is now self-contained and it does not require an instructor for drills and conversation. However, on the other hand, the 2nd edition unfortunately loses almost all of the inductive, conversational approach between teacher and student which the first edition had in order to make one "hear and think in Greek". You'll have to judge which will better meet your needs.
  • Note 2: We are not completely sure the ISBN's are correct on these editions. Also, I think they are often listed incorrectly by book sellers and libraries. Be prepared to have to order online more than once to receive what you really want.
